Snow skiing in Jammu and Kashmir is like a dream come true to any adventure sports enthusiast. The snow capped mountains in Kashmir offer great opportunities for snow skiing. The best place for skiing in Kashmir is Gulmarg. Infact, Gulmarg is the best ski resort in the Himalayas. Two British Army Officers, Maj. Metcarp and Maj. Hadow set up the Ski Club of India at Gulmarg in 1927. Snow Skiing has been popular in the state of Jammu and Kashmir since then. Before independence, two skiing events used to take place annually at this ski resort during both Christmas and Easter. The skiing season in Gulmarg starts around mid-December and ends around the mid-Feb. One of the draws of skiing tourism in Kashmir is the friendly atmosphere of the valley. Also, it is probably the cheapest ski resort in the world, making it quite suitable for learning purposes too. Gulmarg boasts of being one of the highest lift-served ski resorts in the world. A Gandola (cable car) Lift has been built to travel from Gulmarg to Apharwat top. However, at present, only the first section of the Gandola, from Gulmarg to Kongdori, is operational. This ride to Kongdori provides a downhill ski run of about 3 km. The other services available in the Gulmarg ski resort are three ski lifts suitable for beginners and one chair lift suitable for intermediate-level skiing. Gulmarg ski resort has achieved many accolades in the past. The first National Winter Games of India were organized at Gulmarg Ski Resort only, in January-February, 1998.
Day 01: Srinagar Arrivals ( By Flight )/ Gulmarg (52 Kms )
On arrival at Srinagar Airport you will be provided meet & greet assistance with Kashmiri Traditional Welcome by the Representative of Mantana Tours & Travels. Later you will be straight driven for the Meadows of flowers- Gulmarg, situated at 2,730 meters above sea level. On arrival check into your hotel. Hot lunch will be served at your hotel. Day 04: Gulmarg / Srinagar ( 52 Kms / 03 Hrs ) + City Tour
Morning after buffet breakfast at your hotel you will be driven for the Paradise of Kashmir -Srinagar. On arrival check into your Mantana Group of Deluxe House Boat. Hot lunch will be served. Afternoon leave for Half Day City Tour of Srinagar with English Speaking Guide to visit famous Mughal Garden and its Bagh like Nishat Bagh built by Nur Jahan's Brother, Asaf Khan in 1633 A.D. Cheshma Shahi and Pari Mahal - built by Shah Jahan in 1632 A.D. and Shalimar Bagh built by Jehangir for his wife Empress Nur Jahan. All these gardens are situated near the bank of Dal Lake Near the Zabarvan Hills in the back ground. Evening visit to World Famous Carpet Weaving Factory known for its Export Handicraft Products. Dinner & Overnight Stay at your Deluxe House Boat.Kindly Note: Mughal Gardens are closed on Friday.
Day 05: Srinagar Shikara Ride / Onward Journey (By Flight)
Morning after buffet breakfast at your deluxe House Boat leave for Short Shikara Ride to visit the Golden Dal Lake. Nehru Park And Back to House Boat same time you will be provided departure transfer to the Srinagar Airport to Board your connecting flight for the onward journey with New Friends of MANTANA TOURS & TRAVELS.
